Mission Statement
Ecogee's mission is to transform large and medium sized carbon based
energy consumers into clean energy producers. We will get there by helping
them install green energy, such as solar panels (photovoltaic), wind turbines
and promote energy conservation programs.
Vision
With your support, schools, hospitals, businesses and factories will
transform their physical landscape into green energy production sites.
They will utilize ecogee sponsored renewable resources to make themselves
energy neutral. Their campuses will become the foundation for a green
energy revolution. Imagine warehouse rooftops not sitting idly in the
sun, but generating megawatts of clean electricity every year. Parking
lots that bake in the sun now covered with green energy producing solar
panels.

Goals
Since Ecogee started in 2009, our primary goal has been and always will
be to promote renewable energy through direct involvement. Our primary
goal is to raise enough money to directly purchase large scale, 100 Kilowatt
capacity or more, renewable energy systems. This could be in the form
of solar arrays or wind generators.
Our short term goals are to promote Ecogee to as many people as possible.
We hope to accomplish this goal through a grassroots movement with the
Sprouts function on the website. Our members are the only way we can meet
our goals. Our members will drive what organizations will receive Ecogee's
services.
Our long term goals are to create a network of renewable energy installations
that drastically reduce the use of carbon based fuels. We feel that going
after the largest energy consumers it would be the most cost effective
way promote renewable energy.

About Ecogee
Ecogee started as an idea that was hatched when Codey Fredenhagen spent
a day snowboarding at one of the highest ski resorts in North America.
As he rode the chairlift the wind was constantly blowing in his face.
The wind was cold and powerful with speeds in excess of 20 mph. Codey
began to think about why no one had put wind generators next to each of
the ski lift towers. The ski areas use massive amounts of electricity
to power their lifts. Why aren't they tapping into the natural resource
that exists right in their front yards? Costs, profits and lots of paperwork.
Codey began researching how to form a company that could make these types
of long term investments in renewable energy without passing those costs
on to the end consumers. For profit companies were already in the business
of putting up wind and solar, but what about creating a way for individuals
to do their share without causing a disadvantage to these organizations.
Let businesses stay competitive without sacrificing the environment. Ecogee
was born out of that spirit.
Ecogee is simply named for Eco (earth friendly) + Gee, that is a great
idea! We hope that you share in that same feeling of trying to do what
is right for the Earth with a sense of ingenuity to solve problems.
The first year has been spent getting all the paperwork completed and
proper credentials to offer the solutions that put more renewable energy
into the hands of the biggest energy consumers.
Ecogee is based in Aurora, Colorado. Even though we are in Colorado this
doesn't mean that its impacts can't be felt throughout the United States.
Where there is an organization that would like to be sponsored by Ecogee,
they simply need to apply. Sponsorships are granted to organizations throughout
the United States. Our members come from all over the United States and
the world. Our members take pride in knowing that they are sponsoring
renewable energy projects in locations that make the most sense - where
the energy is used.

Where is Ecogee located?
Ecogee is based in Aurora, Colorado. It is about 20 miles southeast of
Denver. Our sunny location gives us plenty of opportunities to harness
the power of the sun. Even though Ecogee is located in Colorado it doesn't
mean that the installations need to be. We are willing to go to where
the wind and sun take us. We are looking for locations across the United
States to install renewable energy.

What is Ecogee's tax identification number?
Ecogee is registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) 3

How are donations used?
At Ecogee we pride ourselves at making the most with the hard earned
dollars that our members give us. We are committed to using the highest
percentage of dollars toward funding renewable energy installations. We
value volunteerism to make Ecogee work as efficiently and effectively
as possible.
What is the minimum donation required?
We request a minimum donation of twenty-five dollars paid one-time or
establish a recurring donation plan of at least five dollars a month.
It is expensive to process credit cards and bank information and sadly
this is an expense we must incur. The twenty-five dollar donation allows
you access to the tools on ecogee.org that allow you voting privileges
on renewable installations. This is a lifetime benefit that never expires.
We may ask for continued support, but your membership won't expire.

Is my credit card/bank information secure?
Yes. We ask that credit cards and bank account drafts be processed through
PayPal. You maintain a separate account with PayPal that takes minutes
to establish if you don't already have an account with PayPal. They are
a trusted name in internet financial transaction processing. We do not
store any of your credit card/bank information at Ecogee. This information
is kept private and is only between you and PayPal. We feel that this
reduces your exposure and our liability to privacy concerns we all have.

How can I cancel my recurring donation?
You can cancel your recurring donation at any time. We request that you
establish and maintain a minimum donation amount of five dollars per month
for at least six months before cancelling your recurring donation. These
recurring donations are called Subscriptions on the website and also on
your PayPal account.
You must sign onto the ecogee.org site with your user id and password.
If you go to the Bank tab you will see your recurring donation as a Subscription.
If you click on the Unsubscribe button you will be prompted to enter your
PayPal user id and password. This will direct you to the PayPal website
where you need to confirm the cancellation. To return to www.ecogee.org
you must enter the web address in the browser again. This is functionality
controlled by PayPal and not ecogee.
How can I change the amount of my recurring donation?
You must cancel the existing recurring donation by selecting the Unsubscribe
button on the Bank tab and then start a new recurring donation. Please
keep in mind that as soon as you make a recurring donation immediately
the first payment will be made.
How can I change the frequency of my recurring donation?
You must cancel an existing recurring donation by selecting the Unsubscribe
button on the Bank tab and then start a new recurring donation. Please
keep in mind that if you select any frequency the draft date will be the
day you started the new recurring donation.
Example if you started the recurring donation for a Monthly donation
of $25 on the 5th of the month, the payment of $25 will pull on the 5th
of every month. The first amount is pulled from your credit card/bank
account immediately.
On the Semi-Monthly frequency option, the first payment amount is pulled
immediately and then every 15 days thereafter.
A special note for dates selected as the 30th or 31st, the recurring
date will draft on your account on the last day possible on the month.
Example if you have a monthly recurring payment of $25 dollars set to
draft on the 31st, during the months with less than 31 days it will draft
on the 30th or 28/29 for February.

How can I see what organizations have been sponsored by Ecogee?
As organizations are sponsored by Ecogee we will add a new tab that will
show the details about the organization. Those details will include their
name, location, renewable energy produced by month and year. It will also
include site photos and a story of how the installation progressed.

What are the qualifications for organizations to get sponsored by
Ecogee?
In order to be sponsored by Ecogee we require an organization to be well
qualified and undergo a rigorous process before a sponsorship is awarded.
We are representing thousands of members and they need to be confident
that their money is being well cared for and will go to the most deserving
organizations.
Some of the most basic criteria are:
- Large energy consumer - usage greater than 100,000 kilowatts per year
- Facility can produce adequate renewable energy
- Willing to participate with Ecogee to make this a successful long-term
partnership. The partnership is expected to last twenty years.
- Be an organization that prides itself in serving the public responsibly
through community programs, like recycling, responsible energy usage
and waste management practices.
If an organization can meet our basic requirements for participation
we encourage them to apply for sponsorship. A member of the Ecogee staff
will contact them and walk them through the Application and Prequalification
Phases.

What are my Sprouts?
Sprouts are a way for Ecogee to grow. Ecogee was founded on the principles
that we will grow this effort from the ground up. We think it is important
to have your friends and family involved in what is important to you.
We recognize that without you there would not be an Ecogee, so we want
to reward you for your ability to make us stronger and larger. On the
Sprouts page you will see that you get rewarded with Voting Power every
time your Sprouts accepts membership.
This Voting Power can increase how much influence you have over Sponsorship
of organizations applying for the renewable energy installations. It also
allows you to redeem that Voting Power into Ecogee merchandise as a "thank
you" gift.
Did you know that the largest living organism is named "Pando"?
It is an aspen grove in Utah. It covers over 107 acres and is estimated
to be 80,000 years old. That is an impressive feat of nature. We want
to create a network of people that want to make a difference in solving
our complex problems like expanding renewable energy.
How do I vote for my favorite organizations?
When an organization has successfully completed the Prequalification
Phase they are listed on the Sponsorship page of www.ecogee.org and members
can read about the organization. Then a member can allocate their Voting
Power that they have earned to an organization of their choice.
Once enough money has been raised to fund an organization with a sponsorship
a primary vote is called. We will call on all members to cast their votes
for their top candidates for sponsorship. The top four organizations will
be then voted upon in the final vote. The winner of the final vote will
go to the Finalist Phase where we will start the process of getting the
organization sponsored.
Why do I need to vote for my favorite organizations?
It is important that our members are involved. Without their involvement
this organization will become stale and irrelevant. Through voting it
gives voice to those people and it lets them know that their donations
are working to make renewable energy a real solution in the world.
